C1/Sea1/First day of Classes

So Semester at Sea Lingo: C1 means class day 1 which is what we have. Last night was a great student orientation followed by the SEA (this means residence hall floor) meetings by the RDs. it was great and the students were engaged. Half of the student life team looked a bit queasy by the time we got done and it was an early night for most of us. Despite my experience sailing the ocean blue, I too was really queasy and actually had to take seasick pills to make sure I was ok.
In any case. today was an extra busy day that started with working out in the AM (beautiful day outside) followed by numerous meetings (just like land!) and off to dinner and then our shipboard activity which will be exciting. Happy C1 everyone  - 2 more days and we'll be in Peru!

First class - land to ship

We finally got to the hotel after 3 flights (gotta love chambana!). We went on the first class side of the plane and here are some pics of the yummy food (thank you american airline). Jenny and I met up with Mary and Jeff (happy birthday), went to the hotel, got rested, grabbed dinner, had a meeting, ended up being even at the casino and got ready for work the next day.  Excited about the voyage getting started and seeing so many familiar friends from F2007 and M2011 join us.

Do you know the way to San Jose?

On our way to SJ! Will be posting some travel updates as much as the ship's wifi allows. This flight's wifi is way better than the ship I'm guessing so we'll see about uploads. Excited to meet the team soon.

The shipboard community

There has been a lot of people I connected with on board the MV Explorer. Here are just some pics of them -
